WHH attends Nutrition for Growth Summit 2025 gathering
The upcoming N4G Paris 2025 Summit, scheduled to take place in March, is set to be a significant milestone in the global fight against malnutrition. Hosted by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Summit aims to unite governments, international organisations, civil society, the private sector, and academia to drive commitments towards tackling malnutrition worldwide.
One of the key components of the Summit is the Village of Solutions for Nutrition, a designated space for showcasing and discussing innovative solutions for nutrition. The Village is anticipated to contribute to the ongoing efforts to combat malnutrition and promote food security, as well as inspire discussions and the development of new solutions for nutrition.
The Civil Society Organisation Nutrition Alliance (CSONA) from Malawi will present the Nutrition Smart Communities at the Village of Solutions for Nutrition. These communities, an innovative, multi-sectoral approach, are contributing to the realization of the right to food.
The Nutrition Smart Communities emphasise the right to nutritious, affordable, and culturally appropriate food, advocating for policy frameworks that support equitable food access and social justice. By integrating the agricultural, environmental, social, and health dimensions, they help ensure food security for vulnerable populations, especially in crisis-affected or underserved settings, where food insecurity and poor nutrition drive maternal and child mortality.
Moreover, these communities mobilise local actors and influence governmental strategies to transition towards sustainable food systems that prioritise nutrition, in line with the N4G emphasis on multistakeholder engagement and systemic change. By embedding these principles into local action and policy, the Nutrition Smart Communities directly support the N4G Summit’s ambition to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in contexts where malnutrition and food insecurity threaten health outcomes and long-term development prospects.
Brieuc Pont, Secretary General of the N4G Summit in France, expressed a desire for the Paris Summit to be a turning point in nutrition and a paradigm shift. The Village of Solutions for Nutrition, running concurrently with the N4G Paris 2025 Summit, is expected to foster inspiring conversations about nutrition and potential solutions, furthering the Summit's goal of being a catalyst for global action against malnutrition.
