Unvaccinated Residents Urged to Get Vaccinated as Delta Variant Surges in Rhein-Kreis Neuss

District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke has urged unvaccinated individuals in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss to get vaccinated, stressing the importance of responsible behaviour as freedoms are regained. The appeal comes as the Delta variant accounts for 290 of the current 1,303 infections in the district, with 522 cases in the under-20 age group.

Petrauschke reminded residents to maintain social distancing, wear masks, and undergo regular testing to protect themselves and others. Since the pandemic began, 21,438 infections have been confirmed in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, with a 7-day incidence value of 63.5. The district health department has set up a hotline (02181/6 01 77 77) to answer questions about the pandemic.

As of March 3, 2020, the first confirmed case was reported in the district. Currently, Neuss has 629 infected persons, followed by Grevenbroich with 189, Dormagen with 170, Meerbusch with 111, Kaarst with 112, Korschenbroich with 37, Jüchen with 44, and Rommerskirchen with 11. A total of 851 persons are in quarantine on the recommendation of the district health department.

The district administrator's appeal highlights the ongoing need for caution and responsibility as the Delta variant spreads. With over 21,000 confirmed infections since the pandemic began, the district continues to monitor and respond to the situation, providing updates and support through its homepage and hotline.
