Tulsa Health Department Ensures Fair Food Safety, Offers COVID-19 Vaccines
The Tulsa Health Department (THD) is preparing for the Tulsa State Fair, ensuring food safety and offering COVID-19 vaccines on-site. Around 165 food booths will be inspected, and a free walk-in clinic will be available for fair attendees.
THD will spend approximately 610 hours conducting around 495 food inspections during the fair. This includes educating vendors about food safety and proper handwashing techniques. Over the past two years, THD inspectors have performed over 16,500 inspections of local food service establishments, demonstrating their commitment to public health.
In addition to food safety, THD is providing COVID-19 vaccines at the fair. More than 300 providers in Tulsa County are approved to offer vaccines, with individuals able to receive their second, booster, or third dose at different locations. THD advises fair attendees to be fully vaccinated, wear masks indoors and in crowded outdoor areas, and practice frequent handwashing to prevent COVID symptoms.
THD's efforts ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for Tulsa State Fair attendees. With rigorous food inspections and on-site COVID-19 vaccines, the department continues to prioritize the health and well-being of the community.
