Say goodbye to the rollator, and hello to a trimmer Michael Schanze! The TV icon, known for hosting shows like "1, 2 or 3", "Flitterabend", or "Kinderquatsch with Michael", has shed a staggering 73 kilograms, going from a whopping 198 kilograms to a much more manageable 125 kilograms.

"I feel bloody terrific today," the 78-year-old exclaimed to the "Bild" newspaper. "I've been livin' the high life, enjoyin' the good things, but now it's time to get lean and mean," he added with a grin.

From Bon Vivant to Slimline Star: How He Did It

So, what's Schanze's secret? Well, it's a mix of old-school wisdom and modern techniques. "I've been eatin' mindfully, stayin' active as much as I can, and I've got a little somethin' I call my 'weight loss injection' that I take every Sunday," he explained.

Michael's weight loss journey is a true testament to the power of consistency and determination. "It ain't been easy, but I've made up my mind, and I ain't lookin' back," he said with a steely gaze. His ultimate goal? To become a "below 100" man. "My next goal is to reach 100 kilograms," he declared with a breeze of confidence.

The Tipping Point: A Fateful Ski Accident

It all started with a tragic ski accident in 2003. Schanze, who was once an extreme sports enthusiast, enjoyed an active lifestyle on water, land, and tennis courts. However, a 25-meter plunge sent him crashing into the mountains, leaving him with a spinal injury.

"Less movement meant more belly for me," Schanze explained the beginning of his weight gain. By 2023, he was mere kilograms away from reaching the 200-kilogram mark. Public appearances required the assistance of a rollator, and his aching joints couldn't bear his weight anymore.

But then, the entertainer made a choice that would change his life: "Between Jan 10, 2023, and today, I've gone from 198 to 125 kilograms." And he ain't slowin' down anytime soon!

A Loss That Lingers: Remembering His Partner

Schanze recently suffered a terrible personal loss. In July 2024, his partner succumbed to the effects of a brain hemorrhage. "It still hurts like hell that Uschi didn’t get to see this development," he reminisced fondly.

Despite the passage of ten months, Schanze's soul still mourns the loss. "The calendar may say it's been ten months, but my heart has its own language," he admitted, fighting back tears.
