Telangana Administration strengthens monitoring efforts for COVID-19 through advanced smartphone application.
In a remarkable display of innovation and efficiency, Vera Smart Healthcare has been instrumental in revolutionising the way COVID-19 surveillance is being handled in the state of Telangana.
The Public Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt of Telangana, has deployed India's first automated "COVID-19 Monitoring System App," developed by Vera Smart Healthcare. This digital platform, based on IoT, Smart devices, GPS, and Geotagging, is installed in the phones of all associates from the ground level to the Chief Minister's Office.
The app is designed to help symptomatic or confirmed 'positive', quarantined, and treated patients, strengthening the COVID contacts outreach. It empowers each health-caller to handle over 1500 calls and interact with patients via a simple chatbot. This streamlined communication system ensures that no call goes unanswered, providing crucial support to those in need.
Vera Smart Healthcare has also introduced the first-ever mobile hospital in India to increase healthcare accessibility in rural areas. This initiative has been a game-changer, bringing essential medical services to remote locations that were previously underserved.
PHC Public Health Centers, totalling 886 in the state, flow out the data to the District Medical Health Office. PHC sub-centers, numbering around 4800, receive data from ASHA workers and push it to the next level. Around 1500-2000 ASHA and ANM workers use the app at any given point, with a total of more than 5000 involved in identifying, registering, tracking, monitoring, and reporting the health condition of home-quarantined patients.
The COVID-19 Monitoring System is built on a digital platform that eliminates human errors and provides accurate information. It enables live surveillance, monitoring, tracking, reporting, and major bulletins. The app reminds patients to self-administer prescribed treatment, maintain social distancing, and stay home and safe.
The system provides real-time analytics to the Chief Minister and the Health Department, facilitating informed decision-making. The analytics also facilitate assurance to the stakeholders by providing facts and figures at their fingertips.
Dr. G Srinivas Rao, Director of Public Health, commended Vera Smart Healthcare's expertise in handling COVID surveillance complexities and developing the technology platform in a record of 3 days. The company is also preparing to release a batch of "SMART PATCH" that tags patients geographically and monitors their real-time health progress.
