Tech giant Apple adopts a (red) hue to boost visibility for World AIDS Day observance
In the spirit of World AIDS Day, Apple is taking a stand against the HIV/AIDS epidemic by offering a range of initiatives aimed at raising awareness, providing education, and offering support.
Through their partnership with (RED), Apple is donating a portion of the proceeds from (PRODUCT)RED products to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. This year, Apple is offering new ways for customers to support the Global Fund this holiday season, including a range of (PRODUCT)RED products across iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone SE, and Apple Watch Series 8.
On the App Store, customers can learn about the Preppy app, a tool designed to help people affected by HIV manage their PrEP intake and track related information. Apple Music is also featuring a special selection of music programming, radio episodes, and more for subscribers to recognize World AIDS Day.
Apple TV app users can explore a collection of shows and movies highlighting the human cost of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Apple Books features curated collections of books and audiobooks about the global fight against HIV/AIDS.
In sub-Saharan Africa, Apple's partnership with (RED) supports the Global Fund, providing healthcare services to millions. One such individual who has benefited from this support is Neema, a woman in Mama Esther's community. Thanks to Apple's assistance, Neema was able to receive treatment and give birth to an HIV-free baby. Mama Esther, a community health worker in Tanzania, has been delivering healthcare services to her community for over 15 years. Funding from the Global Fund supports community health workers like Mama Esther in rural communities.
Over the past 16 years, Apple and its customers have raised over a quarter of a billion dollars for the Global Fund. This funding has helped provide care and support services for over 11 million people impacted by HIV/AIDS. The Global Fund has also helped distribute over 197 million HIV tests.
In addition, Apple Watch users can download seven red watch faces from Apple's website to show support and raise awareness. Hundreds of Apple Store locations are marking World AIDS Day with new window and product displays.
For press inquiries, please contact Apple Media Helpline at media.help@our website. Requires iOS 16 or later and watchOS 9 or later with Apple Watch Series 4 or later.
Apple's support has helped over 5 million HIV-positive mothers prevent passing the virus on to their babies. By joining forces with (RED) and the Global Fund, Apple is making a significant impact in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
