Taylor Swift Discloses Intense Training for Eras Tour - My Attempt at 3-Hour Treadmill Routine Inspired by Her
Pop sensation Taylor Swift has been making headlines not just for her music, but also for her impressive workout routine that has been carefully crafted to prepare for her Eras Tour.
Swift's exercise regimen is a rigorous blend of cardio, strength training, and maintenance workouts, designed to simulate the physical demands of her high-energy performances.
During her off-season, Swift worked closely with her trainer Kirk Myers at Dogpound Gym, dedicating up to six days a week for around two hours each session. The focus was on building strength, conditioning, and overall physical preparation for the tour.
To build endurance, Swift ran on a treadmill while singing her entire 3-hour setlist. She mixed fast running for the up-tempo songs and jogging or fast walking for the slower ones, covering approximately sixteen miles per session. This method not only built her cardiovascular endurance but was timed with the tempo of her songs to optimize pace and stamina.
In addition to the cardio-intensive treadmill sessions, Swift incorporated strength training, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), weightlifting, and Pilates. This helped her build lean muscle and increase metabolism, ensuring she had the physical strength to complement the high-energy dancing and performing.
As the tour approached, Swift shifted her focus to maintenance activities like stability, mobility, and biomechanics to support recovery and ongoing performance. She continued training about twice a week during the tour itself.
Travis Kelce, an American professional football player for the Kansas City Chiefs, compared Swift's physical exertion during her tour to his own athletic demands. He highlighted that the combination of the energetic performance on stage, lasting three hours on a high-tech stage floor in challenging conditions, makes Swift an athlete by any standard, with the physical demands arguably more taxing than some professional sports.
Research suggests that music with a BPM of higher than 130, such as many of Taylor Swift's songs, can improve endurance, recovery times, and help maintain a steady pace during workouts. Swift's workout kit includes lululemon Glow Up tights and FP Movement bras, providing the comfort and support she needs during her intense sessions.
Swift's dedication to her fitness routine is evident in the fact that she spent half a year running on a treadmill every day, singing her entire 44-song setlist, to condition her body for her tour. Her twelfth studio album, titled "The Life Of A Showgirl", is set to be released in October, promising fans a spectacular show.
