In a significant development, a 31-year-old Romanian man suspected of sexually abusing a six-year-old girl at the Rulantica water park near Europa-Park in Rust, Germany, was arrested on August 15, 2025, in Romania.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 9, 2025, within the premises of the water park. The girl, who had lost sight of her parents inside the park, was approached by an unknown man who offered help. This man, later identified through CCTV footage, subsequently led the child out of the park and into an adjacent forest.
In the forest, the man is said to have requested sexual acts from the girl before leaving her alone. The child was found about two hours later, dressed only in her swimwear and flip-flops, approximately five kilometers from the park.
The girl's ordeal sparked an immediate international manhunt, with authorities confirming that the suspect had fled to Romania. The child was found to have no evidence of rape but had suffered serious sexual assault.
