Socks with high heat risk causing possible burns and blisters have been withdrawn from the market.

In a recent development, Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Fieldsheer Apparel Technologies have issued a recall for certain Fieldsheer branded heated socks. This recall is prompted by concerns that the heated socks could potentially cause blisters or burns, especially during high-intensity activities.

The affected products include the Merino wool-heated sock and Premium 2.0 Merino heated sock, specifically models MWMS07, MWWS07, and MWMS05. These socks were sold between August 2021 and June 2025 through various retailers such as Scheels All Sports, Fred Meyer, Home Depot, Meijer, and online at Amazon. They come in black/gray, gray/orange, gray/pink, and black/orange colours in sizes small through extra-large.

In Canada, as of July 29, there have been 19 reports of incidents with one reported injury. The U.S. has also reported 10 incidents and one injury related to these heated socks. A total of 26,492 units of the affected socks were sold in Canada, and another 45,046 units were sold in the U.S. during the same period.

The possible cause of injury is a combination of heat, excessive friction, moisture, and pressure from the heated socks. To ensure safety, those who have purchased the recalled socks are urged to immediately stop using them and contact Fieldsheer for a refund or replacement.

It is crucial to note that the included lithium-ion battery packs should be disposed of according to local municipal hazardous waste guidelines. These batteries pose fire risks and should not be thrown in regular trash or recycling bins.

For assistance, consumers in the US can contact Fieldsheer via their toll-free number 888-908-6024. Key safety instructions include stopping use immediately, returning the socks for refund or replacement, following local hazardous waste protocols for battery disposal, and contacting Fieldsheer for assistance.

Consumers are advised to heed this recall notice to ensure their safety and prevent any potential injuries. Stay informed and act promptly to ensure your heated socks are safe to use.

  1. The recall of certain Fieldsheer heated socks, led by Health Canada, has highlighted the need for enhanced mental health treatments regarding product safety concerns.
  2. In light of the recent report on injured users, it's clear that the quality of skin-care products and fitness-and-exercise equipment, such as these heated socks, requires closer scrutiny from science and health-and-wellness authorities.
  3. As concerns about the safety of heated socks persist, Fieldsheer should consider implementing stricter nutrition standards for the materials in their products to reduce potential risks, such as burns and blisters.
  4. In addition to product recalls and safety guidelines, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission should also focus on promoting public awareness campaigns regarding therapies-and-treatments for managing stress and anxiety caused by product-related injury incidents.
