Sixty surgical procedures were carried out during a medical outreach program
On August 9, 2025, a one-day medical-surgical mission was held at the Cebu Provincial Hospital-Bogo as part of Cebu Province's 456th founding anniversary celebration. The mission, organised by Sui Generis Missions, aimed to provide free medical services and surgeries to underserved communities.
The mission was a collaborative effort with Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital and other organisations. Skilled medical teams from Sui Generis Missions, the Cebu Doctors' University Hospital Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery Core group, and other partners conducted the procedures.
During the mission, approximately P9 million to P12 million worth of surgeries were performed for free. These operations included major surgeries such as gallstone removals and hernia repairs, totalling 60 surgeries. In addition, 77 minor surgeries were provided.
The mission offered comprehensive medical services, extending beyond surgical care. It provided 268 ophthalmology services, 104 dental services, and 41 HIV screenings. Four individuals enrolled in pre-exposure prophylaxis as a result of the HIV screening.
Legal consultations were also provided at the Bogo and Medellin Jails, offering support and guidance to those in need.
The mission's purpose was not only to deliver essential healthcare but also to promote early diagnosis and preventive healthcare in remote or underserved areas. This initiative is part of a month-long series of similar outreach efforts in multiple provincial hospitals, demonstrating an institutional commitment to improving healthcare access and outcomes throughout Cebu Province.
The mission did not stop on that day. It will continue on weekends this month in provincial hospitals in Danao, Balamban, and Carcar, ensuring that more individuals in need can benefit from these vital services.
