Simplifying Daily Life for Senior Citizens
In an effort to support the elderly population, the district administration of Rhein-Kreis Neuss, in collaboration with the city of Korschenbroich and the Diakonie Rhein-Kreis Neuss, has launched a new initiative called "Preventive Home Visits". This project aims to provide personalised advice to elderly residents, helping them understand potential support offers and prevent potential stationary care needs.
The project was officially presented by Landrat Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, Mayor of Korschenbroich Marc Venten, and Bernd Gellrich from the board of the Diakonie Rhein-Kreis Neuss. Attendees at the presentation included Christian Böhme, head of the home care and social services department, Petra Köhnen, senior advisor of the city of Korschenbroich, Andre Fitzner (head of the family and youth services department of the Diakonie), and Christiane Langen, senior advisor of the Diakonie.
The "Preventive Home Visits" model project is not related to the district's general newsletter, which provides in-depth information about social developments, culinary arts, art, and culture in Neuss. Subscribing to the newsletter is free and can be done by visiting the website www.rhein-kreis-neuss.de/seniorenberatung. It's important to note that confirming your subscription may require checking your inbox or spam folder.
After completing a questionnaire, home visits will be arranged, and individual solutions will be sought for each case. These solutions may include hourly care by private individuals, day care in the neighbourhood, or any other measures that make life easier for the elderly.
If the project is successful in Korschenbroich, it may be expanded to other municipalities in the district. However, as of now, no definitive assessment or information on expansion plans can be provided, as the effectiveness of the project in Korschenbroich is not yet known.
For more detailed information about the "Preventive Home Visits" project, it is recommended to consult local government health departments or municipal social service offices in Rhein-Kreis Neuss. It's also worth noting that the newsletter does not send spam and adheres to a privacy policy, which can be found on the website.
This initiative is part of a motion by the SPD and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen factions in the Kreistag, aiming to develop a district-wide concept to support elderly residents. The district administration is currently sending letters to elderly residents (aged 75 and above) in Korschenbroich about this offer.
