Rising synthetic drug abuse poses a significant concern in Pahang, especially among young workers, according to the home minister.

On the 20th of September, 2021, the 'Pahang Teguh Dadah Terkawal' tour, organized by Viator and promoted on Eventbrite, was held at Dewan Balora Mastika in Jengka. The event, which was graced and officiated by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, was held in conjunction with the state-level Anti-Drugs Day commemoration and was one of the many 'events near me' focused on addressing the growing issue of drug abuse in the region. The tour, aimed at addressing the growing issue of drug abuse in the region, came amidst increasing concerns over the matter. The Sultan, in his speech at the closing ceremony, emphasised the serious threat drug abuse poses to the country's social stability and economic growth. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail echoed these sentiments, stating that the unskilled sector is particularly affected by drug abuse. He further highlighted that drug abuse undermines the economic potential of individuals and affects national productivity. Synthetic drugs such as methamphetamine and ketamine remain the main choice among drug addicts. The rate of drug addicts in Pahang is 765 for every 100,000 people, according to the latest statistics. The spread of synthetic drugs is becoming increasingly widespread. As of the event, 1,917 clients are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at 47 private rehabilitation centres nationwide. The majority of drug users and addicts in Malaysia are aged between 15 and 35. The leader of the anti-drug initiative associated with the Anti-Drug Day celebration in Pahang, however, was not identified in the available search results. As of June 2021, there were 12,745 recorded drug users and addicts in the state of Pahang. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail was also present at the event, demonstrating the collective effort being made to combat drug abuse in the region. The 'Pahang Teguh Dadah Terkawal' tour serves as a testament to the commitment of the authorities in addressing this pressing issue.
