Rocking the Pitch for a Cause: Bavarian Football Association Drives Organ Donation Awareness
Football Association delighting over Action Days' impact - Resonanz Football Association expresses enthusiasm for upcoming action-packed events
Sport's power to influence is no joke. As the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) and the Bavarian Ministry of Health join forces, they're using the allure of football to elevate the pressing issue of organ donation. In an outpouring of support that left even the most optimistic spectators in awe, they managed to reach a staggering 200,000 people.
BFV President, Christoph Kern, couldn't contain his excitement, proclaiming, "Our Action Days have surpassed all expectations, and every record we set in 2017!"
1,400 Teams, 739 Matches, One Cause
Through the combined might of their clubs, the BFV once again demonstrated their commitment to the greater good off the field. Over the course of 11 days, football took center stage as 200,000 spectators looked on, with 1,400 teams engaging in 739 matches. The focus? Organ donation.
92,000 ID cards and informational flyers were distributed, aiming to spread the word far and wide.
A Winning Strategy: Organ Donation Action Days
Bavaria's Minister of Health, Judith Gerlach (CSU), voiced her appreciation for the effort, stating, "200,000 people now understand the importance of organ donation, while 1,100 fellow Bavarians continue to await their life-saving donor." She commended the BFV for their commitment to the cause and thanked the participating clubs for their unwavering support.
Organ Matches, a staple of the Action Days, received a boost thanks to the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention's generous contribution of around 128,000 euros. This year's event saw a special spotlight on the district finals of the Bavarian Toto Cup competition in all 22 Bavarian football districts, along with the top match of the Regionalliga Bayern between 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 and FC Würzburger Kickers.
