Report unveiled by the European Commission detailing the effect of population ageing on the health of citizens.
The city of Giessen is set to host the Giessen Senior Fair 2025 on Saturday, October 11, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Congress Hall. This annual event, organised by the Round Table - Aging in Giessen, aims to provide seniors, their relatives, and interested professionals from the region with a wealth of information, services, and activities that support healthy, active, and self-determined aging.
The theme of this year's fair is 'Growing Older Together - Informed, Engaged, and Active.' The event will kick off with an opening ceremony by Social Affairs Commissioner Francesco Arman and the Giessen Senior Choir.
The fair will feature an extensive exhibition program, covering various topics such as health, leisure, care, daily living aids, safety, precaution, and funerals. Local providers will present their services, and professional service providers will offer consulting and tips on-site. The 'Street of Engagement' will showcase local initiatives and associations offering services for seniors.
Independence and mobility are central to the fair's offerings. Services like the Repair Café, Rollator Parkour, and rickshaw rides will be available. All areas of the exhibition are barrier-free, and a sign language interpreter can be requested for individual accompaniment in the exhibition.
The Round Table - Aging in Giessen is a platform for exchange and networking of actors providing offers for and with older people. The organisation dedicates itself to a different main topic each year and organises the Senior Fair and the lecture series 'Aging in Giessen - cloudy to cheerful.' They are a driving force for the implementation of the recommendations for action from the elderly care plan.
The Round Table - Aging in Giessen aims to develop a new culture of aging and contribute to a differentiated representation and perception of this stage of life. They create suitable offers for all needs and make them transparent for all interested parties.
Many older people enjoy the freedom of time management after a long life full of obligations and actively participate in all areas of society. For others, aging can mean an increasing need for support, and it is important to shape the necessary offers in such a way that the dignity and the right to a self-determined life are guaranteed.
Admission to the Giessen Senior Fair is free, making it an accessible event for all. Join us on October 11 for a day of information, engagement, and active aging.
