Regensburg rushes towards the culmination of the Third Johanniter Blue Light event
The 3rd Johanniter-Blaulichtlauf, a unique event supporting emergency services, is scheduled for August 8th, starting at 9 PM. The event will take place on the Schaeffler test track in Regensburg.
Participants can run alone, in a team, competitively, or with a focus on community. The run consists of a 1.3 km loop that can be completed multiple times between 9 PM and 11 PM. Over 500 participants have registered, with more joining daily. Last-minute registrations are possible on the day of the event.
The proceeds from the event will be used to purchase a new emergency motorcycle, valued at approximately €25,000. This will help improve response times and efficiency of emergency medical services.
The Johanniter Regional Association of Eastern Bavaria is part of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe, a non-profit organisation that provides a variety of social services. These include child and youth care, home alarm service, home care, meal service, first aid training, patient transport service, emergency medical service, day care, hospice care, and more. Notably, they operate the INCLUDiO inclusive hotel in Regensburg.
Around 600 volunteers support the emergency medical service, medical service, crisis intervention, search and rescue dog units, therapy dog units, Johanniter Youth, and many other areas of service in the six local associations in Großköllnbach, Kelheim, Landshut, Regensburg, Schwandorf, and Schwarzenfeld.
The event registration can be made online until August 4th. The participation fee is €20 and includes a starting number with a transponder, refreshments on the course, a gift from dm, and the official 2025 Blaulichtlauf shirt (while supplies last).
Last year, over 6,300 kilometers were covered, and a donation of €11,000 was raised. Awards will be given to the runners and teams with the most completed laps.
For more details about the exact date or location, we recommend checking Johanniter’s official announcements or local event listings. The Johanniter employ over 1,900 full-time staff across multiple locations and facilities. They are involved in hospice care through the Johannes-Hospiz in Pentling and the Bruder-Gerhard-Hospiz in Schwandorf.
