Redesigning the User Experience on Our Platform
After a thorough assessment of its magazine operations, the editorially independent publishing division of the national science agency—CSIRO Publishing—has made the tough decision to discontinue production of Cosmos magazine. The final print issue will be released in June 2025, with digital subscriptions also ceasing in that same month. All subscribers will receive refunds for the remaining term of their subscriptions, with specific details provided below.
Following the end of the magazine's print and digital run, Cosmos online news will evolve and be incorporated into a new digital destination for science content being developed by CSIRO Publishing. Launching later in 2025, this platform will feature peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and fact-based science news, aiming to bring together audiences for a sustainable future. A dedicated news team will continue to publish articles about the latest scientific discoveries and interviews with researchers.
To stay informed about these developments, sign up for Cosmos newsletters.
This decision was not taken lightly and mirrors a broader trend of audiences shifting away from print magazines and the escalating costs associated with producing them.
We'd like to express our gratitude to all the writers, staff, and readers who have supported Cosmos magazine throughout the years.
