Latest Update on Queen Margrethe of Denmark: Back to Health Again

Danish Monarch, Queen Margrethe, discharged from hospital following a two-day stay - Queen Margrethe of Denmark has been released from the hospital after a two-day stay.

Queen Margrethe II, the former Danish monarch who turned 85 on April 16, has bounced back after a quick hospital stay. Known as an informal and approachable figure, she was last spotted in public on May 4 at a service marking the end of World War II.

The queen, who abdicated in January 2024 and passed the throne to her son Frederik, found herself back in Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen due to catching a common cold. This unexpected visit led to the cancellation of her scheduled trip to the Sankt Lukas Foundation's 125th anniversary celebration.

Don't fret, though! The royal court reported that the queen was recovering with good spirits and was expected to be back home at Fredensborg Palace by the weekend. True to their word, she was discharged and is now back in her beloved castle.

Prior to the hospitalization, the queen graced a church service on May 4, commemorating Denmark's liberation from Nazi Germany, alongside her family members. The royal family continues to carry out their engagements, such as Queen Mary's visit to the Danish Kidney Association's Dialysis Clinic on the island of Bornholm on May 9.

It's worth noting that Queen Margrethe's health issues were one of the reasons she decided to abdicate in 2024. She also underwent extensive back surgery around the same period. Despite her move, she remains an active presence in Danish royal life.
