Health and Therapy Center in Adlkofen Embraces Digital Transformation Amidst Challenges
The Health and Therapy Center in Adlkofen, also known as ZGT, continues to make strides in the health sector, despite the ongoing hurdles in digitization. Margot Raff, who has been leading the ZGT since 1997, and her daughters Denise and Nadine, have invested significantly in the latest technologies and devices to keep the center at the forefront of healthcare.
The ZGT is among only 40 practices nationwide that enable digital signatures for rehabilitation sports. This digital advancement is a testament to the center's commitment to progress, even as the implementation of a unified digital patient record progresses slowly. The introduction of the e-prescription is also delayed, as reported by the ZGT management.
County Administrator Peter Dreier and Economic Referent Ludwig Goetz visited the Health and Therapy Center on August 5, 2025. During their visit, they emphasized the need for a change in mindset towards prevention and the expansion of preventive offers, considering the aging society. The ZGT, with its comprehensive care on-site and many home visits, is well-positioned to contribute to this shift.
The ZGT's fleet consists of about 30 cars used for home visits and external appointments. Therapists from the ZGT travel to nursing homes as far as the Moosburg region for these visits. The center's therapists appreciate the variety of their work, which is made possible by the center's expansive catchment area.
The ZGT has acquired a special device with a neurological approach, one of few in Germany. The EksoNR exoskeleton, a state-of-the-art device, is used by the ZGT to help patients who can no longer walk independently to relearn this skill.
As the ZGT continues to grow, it is expanding its facilities. By the end of November, new rooms for neurological intensive therapy and hand therapy will be added. The center currently employs 65 staff members, including physiotherapists, ergotherapists, speech therapists, sports scientists, and more.
Bureaucracy and lack of guidelines and standardization require manual signatures, but the ZGT management promotes continuity in therapy approaches and encourages early and consistent personal health responsibility. All present agreed that digitization is necessary for organizational advancement.
The Raff sisters, Nadine and Denise, have also joined the ZGT after completing their training and studies. They have invested approximately 2.5 million euros in the latest technologies and devices for the ZGT, ensuring that the center remains equipped to provide the best possible care for its patients.
The Health and Therapy Center in Adlkofen continues to be a beacon of innovation and care in the health sector, despite the challenges posed by digitization. Its commitment to prevention, digital advancement, and comprehensive care sets it apart as a leader in its field.
Elsewhere in the Health Sector
In other news, the Hand- and Therapy Center Gießen (HTZ Gießen) announced in 2025 the opening of new facilities for Neurological Intensive Therapy and Hand Therapy at their new location in Gießen at the old airport. This expansion is expected to further enhance the quality of care provided by these centers across Germany.
