Rowing Against Cancer Regatta in Lübeck Raises Funds and Awareness

On September 21, 2024, the 11th charity regatta "Rowing Against Cancer" took place in Lübeck, Germany. The event, which has been held annually with growing participation and commitment, brought together 58 teams to support cancer patients in the region and raise funds for the "Sport with Cancer" project.

The regatta took place on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, with the first race beginning at 10:30 AM on a 250-meter course in front of the Lübeck Rowing Clubs. Participants included hobby athletes from Lübeck's institutions and companies, three patient boats from Lübeck, Hamburg, and Kiel, and a boat from Lübeck's Marli workshops.

The competition offered an entertaining side program, including a raffle and refreshments. In the newcomers' category, the team "Sanatinib" took the top spot on the winners' podium, while the expert rowing team of the Katharineum won the experienced rowers category. All participants in the patient race were celebrated as winners.

The event was not a fundraiser for an advertisement, but for the "Sport with Cancer" project, which is led by sports therapist Jan Dalitz at the Sana Clinics Lübeck. The regatta was organized in collaboration with several entities, including the "Life with Cancer" foundation, the Lübeck Women's Rowing Club, the Lübeck Rowing Club, the NOZ Network of Oncological Centers, and the Sana Clinics Lübeck.

The award ceremony took place in the afternoon, and the event was opened by Mayor Jan Lindenau. The regatta's website is rowing-against-cancer.de, where more information about the event and how to get involved can be found.

The Rowing Against Cancer regatta in Lübeck is a well-established annual charitable event, with strong participation and positive impact on community and scientific collaboration.
