North American Taiwanese Medical Association to Provide Free Medical Services in Ukraine

The North American Taiwanese Medical Association (NATMA) is set to offer free medical services in Ukraine starting late August 2025. The volunteer team, consisting of 10 members, will work primarily in Kyiv, the capital city, and provide care at a military hospital for eight days.

The team, led by former NATMA president Jung Tsai, will offer a range of services including surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and specifically cancer-related surgeries. They will also bring medicine and medical equipment to support local medical needs.

The 10-member team consists of doctors specializing in surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine. Six members will depart from Taiwan, while four will travel from the United States. The team will first arrive in Warsaw, Poland on August 26, 2025, before proceeding to Kyiv.

The mission emphasizes support for both civilians and soldiers in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. Tsai, the former president of NATMA, expressed hope for an end to the war in Ukraine. He also mentioned that peace is most important after a war due to its causation of casualties.

This isn't the first time NATMA has shown support for Ukraine. In September 2023, members of the association held a volunteer clinic in a hospital in Lviv, treating a large number of wounded soldiers.

The meeting to discuss the trip took place at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York. The team's arrival in Ukraine is scheduled for Aug. 26 in Warsaw, followed by Kyiv. The trip is aimed at providing free medical services to civilians and soldiers in Ukraine.

The meeting was held before US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to meet at the US military base in Anchorage, Alaska, tomorrow.
