McFly's James Bourne Reveals His Health Status After Abruptly Leaving Band's Tour Before Its Launch

In a surprising turn of events, James Bourne, the singer and guitarist of the popular British pop-punk band Busted, has had to step out of the ongoing 'Busted vs McFly' tour due to poor health. The tour, which kicked off in Birmingham on September 16, is due to run until early November.

Bourne's bandmates, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson, expressed their concern and asked if they should cancel the tour, but Bourne gave them his blessing for it to continue. Willis addressed Bourne's absence during the opening show in Birmingham, informing the audience that Bourne is 'really fucking sick' and that the band loves him and misses him.

The tour will continue without Bourne, as per a joint decision made by him, his bandmates, and management. Despite Bourne's absence, the show must go on, and the duo of Willis and Simpson are ready to deliver an unforgettable performance.

On a positive note, Busted has been keeping busy with new music. They've been working on new material with former Bring Me the Horizon musician Jordan Fish, who was described as an 'extraordinary talent' by the Busted members during their studio sessions.

This isn't the first time Busted and McFly have shared a stage. In 2013, the two bands formed the supergroup McBusted and released their self-titled debut album in 2014, before going on hiatus.

Meanwhile, Charlie Simpson is suspected to be the frontman of the mysterious new act President. President, who played their debut show at Download 2025, announced a 2026 UK and Ireland tour.

Busted's last studio album, 'Half Way There', was released in 2019. However, they made a triumphant return in 2023 with their UK Number One 'Greatest Hits 2.0' compilation.

As for Bourne, he has not provided details about his illness, but it is known that he has been ill for the past eight days. The band and their fans wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return.

In the meantime, the 'Busted vs McFly' tour continues, with Willis and Simpson leading the charge. Fans can expect an exciting and energetic show, filled with the bands' greatest hits and perhaps a sneak peek of the new music they've been working on.
