Man in Madhya Pradesh Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Underage Daughter, Abandoning Freshly Born Infant in Wilderness
In a harrowing turn of events, a man has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district for allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter, impregnating her, forcing her to deliver at home, and then abandoning the newborn baby in the bushes.
The infant, found covered in ant bites, is currently receiving medical care in the MTH Hospital in Indore. The baby's condition is critical, requiring ventilator support, as confirmed by Dr Pawan Patidar, head of the special newborn care unit.
The arrest was made under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A case was registered against an unidentified person under section 93 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita for abandoning a child under twelve years.
The probe revealed that the baby's mother was the 16-year-old girl who was admitted to a clinic. The girl's mental and physical condition is described as very weak due to trauma and inadequate care.
The infant was initially treated in Khargone but was later shifted to the MTH Hospital in Indore for advanced care. DNA samples from the father, daughter, and newborn have confirmed the lineage and the crime.
