Major Medicare Advantage Changes Coming to Vermont and New Hampshire

Vermont and New Hampshire residents will see significant changes in their Medicare Advantage plan options. Vermont Blue Advantage, an affiliate of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, will discontinue all Medicare Advantage plans in Vermont by the end of 2025. Meanwhile, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, along with Martin's Point Health Care, will no longer offer these plans in New Hampshire. These changes are part of a broader trend of health insurers reducing or discontinuing Medicare Advantage plans in both states for the 2026 plan year.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont will continue to offer Medicare supplement plans in Vermont, providing an alternative for those affected by the change. Looking ahead, Humana has announced that it will begin offering Medicare Advantage plans in Vermont starting in 2027, giving residents a new option to consider. These shifts in the market reflect ongoing adjustments in the healthcare landscape, with insurers continually evaluating and adapting their offerings to meet the needs of their customers.

By the end of 2025, Vermont Blue Advantage will no longer provide Medicare Advantage plans in Vermont. In New Hampshire, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, along with Martin's Point Health Care, will also discontinue these plans. While Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont will continue offering Medicare supplement plans, Humana will introduce Medicare Advantage plans in Vermont in 2027, providing a new choice for residents.
