Lifelong Female Healthcare: A Comprehensive Overview

The City of Augsburg and the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention are focusing on women's health, particularly during the menopause phase. In a collaborative effort between the Prevention and Health Promotion Department and the Health Region, an online lecture series will be held from October 7 to November 25, 2025.

These informative sessions will take place every Tuesday, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, and will be conducted by a team of experts including Dr. med. Helena Orfanos-Boeckel, Dr. Judith Bildau, Dr. Imke Mebes, Dr. Catharina Hamm, Kerstin Kleinesper, Dr. Susanne Esche-Belke, Prof. Birgit-Christiane Zyriax, and Anja Jancke-Souhr. These professionals have previously been involved in webinars and informational events on menopause topics.

Participation in the lectures is free and registration is not required. The link to participate via Microsoft Teams remains the same for each lecture. A detailed guide on how to participate, including the access link, can be found further down on the page.

Menopause is a phase in a woman's life when her natural hormone production changes, leading to physical changes such as the cessation of menstrual bleeding, hot flashes, sweating, fatigue, exhaustion, and sleep disturbances. The experiences with one's own body, aging, fertility, and sexuality play a big role in how women experience menopause. These factors, along with individual experiences, expectations, societal factors, and family circumstances, influence women's experiences with menopause.

The aim of these lectures is to support women through education and information, reduce taboos and prejudices, and allow for the asking of personal questions. The lectures are part of a larger initiative to promote women's health and prevent women-specific diseases.

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, a citizen's day on the topic of women's health was organised by the Health Department and the Health Region of the City of Augsburg. Approximately 500 visitors attended the event, which featured numerous information stands from actors in the Augsburg health sector, the Augsburg playmobile, and interactive activities. The citizen's day aimed to sustainably strengthen public awareness of the health of girls and women and to present offers in the city of Augsburg.

We encourage all women to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to learn more about menopause and to ask their questions in a supportive environment.
