The Regensburg District Administration, in partnership with Catholic Adult Education, is organising a series of events as part of the 6th Bavarian Dementia Week, taking place from September 19 to 28, 2025. These events aim to provide support, raise awareness, and foster a sense of community for those affected by dementia.

On September 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Gerlinde Weigert will deliver a lecture titled "Staying Mentally Fit - Preventing Dementia with 10 Measures." This event is designed to equip attendees with practical strategies to maintain mental health and potentially prevent dementia.

The following day, September 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, the "Memory Box - Our Treasure Chest" event will take place. During this interactive session, people with dementia and their relatives will collaborate to create memory boxes, providing a meaningful and engaging activity that helps preserve cherished memories.

On September 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Anton Stiglmaier, Specialist Nurse in the Emergency Department at the University Hospital Regensburg, will present a lecture titled "Dementia in the Hospital." Dr. Maria Schneider will serve as the speaker for this event.

These events will take place at the Regensburg District Administration, Altmühlstraße 3, 93059 Regensburg, in the Large Conference Room, Room 4.035. All interested parties are warmly invited to attend or receive information about the events. For questions or registration for the respective event, contact Mrs. García Jociles at Phone 0941/ 4009-531 or at [email protected].

As society ages, the number of people with dementia is increasing. According to recent statistics, approximately 270,000 people in Bavaria are currently affected by a dementia-related illness, and in the over-90 age group, more than one in three people show symptoms related to dementia. District Administrator Tanja Schweiger emphasises the importance of providing support for people with dementia and their relatives as early as possible.

The Regensburg District Administration is proud to be collaborating with Catholic Adult Education in the Regensburg region for these events. By participating in Dementia Week, the district hopes to improve participation opportunities, prevent isolation, and relieve families. These events are a testament to the community's commitment to supporting those affected by dementia and fostering a more inclusive and compassionate society.
