Fundraiser Event: Yakutsk Oncologists Aid - Initial Charity Run for Medical Professionals Specializing in Cancer Treatment

In the chilly terrains of Yakutia, a powerful display of compassion unfolded as over 500 participants of various ages joined forces for the inaugural charity run, "Together We Conquer!". This remarkable event aimed to offer support to individuals battling oncological diseases. Olga Balabkina, the Deputy Chairman of the Republic's Government, joined the rally, stressing the importance of unity in the grueling war against cancer, a battle she personally knew all too well given her family's painful encounters with the disease.

Taking up the mantle as the run's ambassador was Sарdana Trofimova, a renowned Russian track and field athlete, international master of sports, and five-time Russian marathon champion. She led an energetic warm-up for the participants, setting the tone for the inspiring event. Understanding the significance of the run, Vasily Spiridonov, the main coach of the Yakutia Athletics Federation, shared invaluable tips on running techniques for distances ranging from 5km to 10km, catering to both the younger and older participants. The route was safeguarded by supportive volunteers and medical staff, ensuring a smooth run for all.

The funds gathered during the event would be funneled to the Yakutsk Oncology Patient Support Fund "Antirak". This generous initiative was born from the Yakutsk Republican Oncological Dispensary, underscoring their unwavering commitment to improving lives of those afflicted by cancer.

On a broader level, Yakutia is actively participating in the national project "Long and Active Life", a commendable initiative spearheaded by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This project, while details on Yakutia's implementation are scant, generally aims to facilitate oncological assistance by encouraging healthier lifestyles, improving healthcare access, and enhancing community engagement. By raising awareness about oncological issues, the project strongly advocates for early cancer detection and prevention.
