In a heartfelt tribute to Michelle Head, a beloved Counsellor and Mental Health First Aid Trainer at the Student and Library Services and Employability teams, the university community is coming together to raise funds for Samaritans and the ARU Wellbeing Service.

Michelle Head was renowned for her kindness, compassion, and infectious sense of humour, making a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of students and staff during her career. Her passion for enabling students to access mental health support and self-care tools was evident in her daily work.

To pay tribute to Michelle, several staff members from Student and Library Services are participating in running events, including the 10K, half marathon, and marathon. Students and staff are encouraged to join the fundraising team in her memory, with the opportunity to sponsor and stay updated on the latest activities related to the fundraiser via the JustGiving page.

The JustGiving page also provides a platform for students and staff to share their stories and tributes, offering a chance to celebrate Michelle's life and the difference she made.

Samaritans, a mental health charity that Michelle personally supported, will benefit from the funds raised. Participating in active challenges, such as walking, skipping, or swimming, is a great way to honour Michelle's memory while raising funds for this worthy cause.

The ARU Wellbeing Service, available to all students, offers a free and confidential service to promote mental health and wellbeing. The service continues to be a testament to Michelle's commitment to student welfare.
