Diagnosed with cancer multiple times over a four-year span, Simone elects a remarkable course of action
In the heart of Wismar, Germany, a vibrant community studio named "KunstEcke" has become a beacon of creativity. The studio, shared with a photographer, is the realm of Simone Busack, a woman whose spirit is as colourful as the art she creates.
Simone, who can sometimes be seen sporting long red locks or a bald head, has faced her fair share of challenges. Three times, cancer has invaded her life, most recently with uterine cancer last year and skin cancer four years ago. Her latest adversary, which she affectionately named "Bommel," is breast cancer, a diagnosis she received after discovering a three by three centimeter lump.
Despite the obstacles, Simone continues to fight. Every week, she undergoes chemotherapy treatment, a battle she faces with unwavering determination. However, her current condition is responding well to the treatment, offering a glimmer of hope.
Simone's dream of having her own studio and teaching others was realised in Wismar. Her studio, located at Bademutterstraße 27/Ecke Altböterstraße, is a place where art thrives, and children's laughter echoes. Simone offers painting courses and even hosts children's birthday parties, spreading her love for art far and wide.
In this studio, a four-legged friend named Teddy often lounges behind a shop window. Teddy, a king poodle, is not just a pet but a competence dog, trained to provide comfort and support. He accompanies Simone while she paints and often visits kindergartens, schools, and retirement homes, bringing joy to many.
Simone's sister, suffering from liver cancer, is in Baden-Württemberg. Due to her own chemotherapy treatment, Simone is unable to visit her sister, a separation that weighs heavily on her heart.
Through it all, Simone remains optimistic. Her resilience is a testament to the power of art and the healing effect it can have. As she continues her journey, she does so with her head held high, painting her way through life, and Teddy by her side.
