Court permits resumption of operations at "Media Place" where nine individuals were poisoned.

Restaurant "Midiyonoe Mesto" in Yekaterinburg temporarily closed for two weeks following its opening on May 9, due to food poisoning complaints from patrons. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of intestinal bacteria in oysters and elevated levels of harmful substances in steamed shrimp. Two staff members were found to have staphylococcus.

The court has ordered the establishment to remain closed until June 7. According to the restaurant's statement, specialists from Rosperdrnadzor conducted a follow-up inspection on May 23 and confirmed the resolution of all violations.

"Due to the complete resolution of all identified violations, the Leninsky Court of Yekaterinburg has decided to prematurely reopen the restaurant," George Krassnov, the lawyer for "Midiyonoe Mesto," told our site.sRU.

The owners of "Midiyonoe Mesto" have admitted responsibility and identified the cause of the food poisoning that affected nine people. Initially, complaints of poor health emerged on May 10. The restaurant immediately reported it would switch suppliers. The initial report was of a single person affected, but the number of victims later increased to nine.

"Midiyonoe Mesto" opened in Yekaterinburg at the end of April. The first restaurant in the chain opened in 2020 in Sochi. Since then, locations have been added to 62 cities across Russia. The restaurant was founded by Alexey Ayupov, who has been developing the noodle bar chain Noodle Bar Spinky in Saratov since 2012. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurateur closed the project and transitioned to the corner-style format, similar to "Midiyonoe Mesto."

  1. In light of the complete resolution of violations, "Midiyonoe Mesto" may expect a premature reopening, as indicated by George Krassnov, the restaurant's legal representative.
  2. In addition to food-and-drink concerns, health-and-wellness issues were highlighted when it was discovered that two staff members had staphylococcus, contributing to the overall incident.
  3. The general-news about the restaurant's temporary closure due to food poisoning in Yekaterinburg has now shifted to lifestyle news, as "Midiyonoe Mesto" prepares for a potential reopening.
