Saarbrücken's Community Spirit Ferments Anew!
Post-summer break, the Caritas Association for Saarbrücken and Surroundings, a dire need for our local citizenry, is ready to rekindle the community vibes in the region. Fresh off the success of the winter action 2022/2023 "The Saarland unites", the much-loved Caritas Lunch Tables, more than just a meal spot, will resume service.
These tables, funded by donations and the association's own funds, miraculously stayed afloat even during the peak of the pandemic. As Caritas Director Michael Schley puts it, "The incredible support and our mouthwatering volunteers made it possible not just to keep the service alive, but to amplify it!"
Lunch Table Locations:
- St. Johann: Partnering with the St. Johann parish, the Lunch Table will be held every Wednesday following the service, starting around 12:30 pm, in the basilica's hall, commencing from September 13th.
- Burbach: Over here, Caritas neighborhood work Burbach collaborates with cath. parish St. Eligius. Every Wednesday from noon, the nourishment begins at the parish center, post September 13th.
- Folsterhöhe: In cahoots with cath. parish community St. Jakob (Heilig Kreuz), the Lunch Table takes place every Monday starting from noon at the "Folschder Café", kickstarting on September 11th.
- Sulzbach: Every Wednesday, a Lunch Table will serve up some sustenance starting from noon at Sulzbachtalstraße 68, available from September 13th.
- Völklingen Wehrden: A fresh location has materialized here. Every Friday from noon, there will be a Lunch Table at Zilleichstraße 2, starting from September 15th.
Beyond the wholesome meal, these tables offer a chance to connect with unique individuals. Furthermore, the Caritas Association staff is always present to provide information about additional aid and counseling services.
