Breast Cancer Recovery Rates in Kuwait Reach 44% as CAN's 'Pink Lifebuoy' Initiative Gains Momentum
Breast cancer, the most prevalent cancer among Kuwaiti women, has seen recovery rates climb to 44 percent this year. The National Cancer Awareness Campaign (CAN), under the patronage of Minister Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila and supported by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, is leading the fight with its 'Pink Lifebuoy' initiative, running throughout October to promote early detection and healthy lifestyles.
CAN Chairman Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh underscored the significance of monthly self-examinations and early screening for prevention and recovery. Official representative Dr. Hessa Al-Shaheen emphasized the importance of inter-institutional cooperation between health, social, educational, and media sectors to support early screening and promote wellness.
Over the past 14 years, CAN's programs have boosted women's participation in self-examination training and mammograms. This year's campaign activities, including workshops, exhibitions, and lectures, have reached over 172,000 female students across various institutions.
The 'Pink Lifebuoy' initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage early detection among Kuwaiti women. With the support of key stakeholders and the dedication of CAN officials, the campaign seeks to improve breast cancer recovery rates and promote a healthier Kuwait.
