Border Control Officers in Germany detain returned Romanian nationals
In a recent development, a Romanian national was arrested by the Federal Police near Kiefersfelden on August 27th. The individual, a 32-year-old driver of a Polish-registered vehicle, was taken into custody at a Federal Police control point on the A93.
The Federal Police Station Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which falls under the Federal Police Inspectorate Rosenheim, played a key role in the arrest. Established in 1960, the Rosenheim Federal Police Inspectorate covers the districts of Miesbach, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Rosenheim, and is responsible for ensuring the safety of rail passengers and rail facilities on approximately 370 kilometers of railway tracks and in approximately 70 stations and stops.
The Romanian national was previously sentenced by the District Court of Düsseldorf to a multi-year prison sentence for theft with weapons in 2020. Upon his return to Germany, the remaining sentence became due. As a result, the individual is expected to spend 195 days in detention.
The Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor's Office is involved in the case, and the arrested man was taken to Bernau Prison after an arrest warrant was discovered. It is worth noting that the Rosenheim Federal Police Inspectorate is particularly active against cross-border crime, focusing on the smuggling of foreigners and irregular, illegal migration in an approximately 200-kilometer-long section of the German-Austrian border area. The area of responsibility of the Federal Police Inspectorate Rosenheim extends from Chiemsee to Zugspitze.
