Actor Tom Hardy shares his health struggles, stating they fail to improve.
Tom Hardy, the well-known British actor, best known for his Oscar-nominated performance in "The Revenant" alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, has recently shared some alarming details about his health. During a candid interview with Esquire, Hardy opened up about his ongoing health struggles.
In the interview, Hardy discussed the hectic press tour for "Venom: The Last Dance," where he played the lead role, served as executive producer, and co-wrote the script. The tour, which took place when the film was released on Netflix in October of last year, was a particularly stressful time for the acclaimed character actor.
Hardy's health issues have been a silent companion throughout his professional commitments in the past year. During the interview, he shared some concerning symptoms he had been experiencing but hadn't spoken about publicly.
"I was feeling dizzy today," Hardy admitted. He had taken medication, "And it's starting to work, so I'm feeling better. But you know when you don't feel well, but you can't tell anyone? Like, 'Listen, if I pass out...'" he recalled his recent press tours.
Hardy has had "two knee surgeries," he continued. He also has a herniated disc in his back and sciatica. To add to his woes, he is dealing with plantar fasciitis, and a pulled tendon in his hip.
"Where is this coming from? And why? Why?! And I've also torn my hip flexor. It's like everything is falling apart, and it's not getting better," the actor complained.
Throughout his career, Hardy has taken on action-packed roles. Reflecting on the toll his acting career takes, he said, "I've been running against something I had to run against to understand that it's not going away."
"It just keeps coming, more, more, more," Hardy continued. "What? Ulcers? High blood pressure? Your knees give out, your hair falls out, your teeth are crooked, you're almost 50."
Hardy is seeking solace in various homeopathic treatments, including tinctures, and is considering stem cell therapy. "I think, when it comes down to it, it seems reasonable, and I'll seek advice," he confided in Esquire.
Tom Hardy's health struggles seem to be part of a deeper crisis. Reflecting on his earlier ambitions, he said, "Maybe it's about your self-worth, maybe it's about not finishing school, maybe it's about not being good enough. But all this 'I'll show them, I'll show them' - Who are you showing? Who cares? I know I can."
Confidentiality agreements likely prevent Hardy from providing more details about his health issues and treatments. Still, his openness about his struggles is a reminder to prioritize self-care and seek help when needed.
